Groundwork Dearne Valley

Groundwork Dearne Valley is an environmental charity that was established in 1995 by Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham Councils. We work with local people to improve their environment and we provide training to help local people find work.

Our regeneration work focuses on targeted communities in Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster in wards suffering from multiple deprivation.

We carry out the work following a period of consultation with people who live, work and play in the villages regarding the improvements they would like to see. We also establish whether they are willing to participate in the planning and maintenance of each of the projects.

We help to develop local decision making groups and work with funders to make projects happen. Once funding is in place the Trust works in conjunction with residents to make the improvements happen.
